Home - Artist Profile

Emma Ley is a textile designer and
maker based in the city of Bath, UK. She creates cushions, wall hangings, quilts and original works of art.

In 2008, Emma completed an M.A. in Fashion Textiles at Bath Spa University, where she specialised in print. Her work combines hand-dyed fabrics and screen printing techniques with digitally printed designs.

Based at Widcombe Studios in Bath (soon to be renamed Bath Artist's Studios), Emma is also 'Artist in Residence' at Corsham Court, a stately home in Wiltshire, where she mentors Masters Students for Bath Spa University.

Emma's work is inspired by her surroundings in a constantly changing rural environment...

"I live on a canal boat, which provides me with a new view each time we moor. I draw and paint what I see in the fields or along the tow path in each new location. This process inspires fresh ideas and enables me to develop new designs for my textiles and printed fabrics."

Emma's first collection of vibrant botanical designs is timeless and uplifting - easily suitable for any
style of home.

Forthcoming exhibitons: Bear Flat Artists and Widcombe Studios - see exhibitions page for more details.....
